AN INVITATION TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
|
The deadline for registrations on the June Charity Challenge has past and the event is over-subscribed, however if you'd like to join us on the next Charity Challenge event or get involved in RifCom's work, please email us on info@rifcom.org |
You can assist RifCom to help the people of the Rif by simply making a donation or becoming a Friend of RifCom, but if you really want to get involved and gain a life enhancing experience, we invite you to sign up now for the RifCom Charity Challenge Event in June 2009.
Giving to charity is a beautiful thing, seeing the work your money funds is something else and actually doing some of that work yourself is truly incredible. And that’s what the June RifCom Event can offer you, bringing together people from Gibraltar and the surrounding Campo to not only raise money for a good cause but to see and experience how it will be spent and actually get hands-on involved in some of the charitable projects. All of this in a country which is within sight of our everyday lives yet is a world away in every other sense.
No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference!
What's Involved
The essence of the Challenge Event is to travel to the town of Chefchaouen at the heart of the Rif, spend two days working side-by-side with Moroccan people on a variety of community enhancement projects and then walk into the mountains to the tiny village of Akchour where you’ll set up your own base‐camp and spend a day experiencing and contributing to a variety of cultural exchange projects, before returning home on the last of your five incredible days.
The proposed detailed itinerary is attached but do please note that planning ahead can be challenging in Morocco and there are many variables such as the weather , local politics and size of the group, so while we will do our best to keep to the itinerary, it is subject to change.
To take part in this challenge you will need to pay a registration fee of £250 (in one or two installments) and pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship target of £500 before the Event, some of which will be spent on the very community projects you will participate in and the remainder accumulated towards RifCom's first Education and Community Support Centre to be built as funds allow (a future community project which you'll also be invited to join).
You may join the Challenge as an individual or as part of a team which could be a corporate team or just a group of friends and/or family.
We've attached here a FAQs Sheet with some answers to few of the more likely questions you may have, but if there's anything else you'd like to know, just email us on info@rifcom.org
